NECO CBE Registration 2025 – Centre Requirements & How to Apply

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially announced the transition from the traditional Pen-and-Paper Test (PPT) to Computer-Based Examination (CBE) for the 2025 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) External (Nov/Dec).

As part of the NECO CBE Registration 2025, the council is inviting qualified Computer-Based Examination Centre Operators across Nigeria to apply for registration and accreditation. Only accredited centres will be allowed to host NECO’s computer-based exams.

System Requirements for NECO CBE Registration 2025

Every NECO-approved CBE centre must meet the following ICT standards:

  • Minimum of 150 functional computer systems/laptops with at least 10% backup (15 extra).
  • Each system must have:
    • Intel Dual Core / Celeron / Pentium processor
    • 4GB RAM, 32GB minimum hard drive (SSD preferred)
    • Windows 10 OS
    • Updated browser (Chrome, Firefox, or Edge)
    • 14/100MB RJ45 Network Port
  • Minimum 15-inch flat screen monitors.
  • Robust server capable of handling 150 systems simultaneously.
  • Updated antivirus software.
  • All systems must be connected via LAN (wired); wireless connections are not allowed.
  • Switches must be on uninterrupted power supply (UPS).
  • At least 2 backup switches are required.

Hall Requirements for NECO CBE Registration 2025

To qualify for NECO accreditation, each centre hall must provide:

  • Individual cubicles (minimum 26” length × 18” breadth × 18” height).
  • Comfortable seating for each candidate.
  • Functional AC units and proper lighting.
  • CCTV coverage (wired, no wireless) with IP cameras.
  • Reliable network coverage (strong MTN or Airtel signal).
  • At least two visible wall clocks.
  • No wristwatches allowed inside the hall.
  • Hall must serve as a dedicated CBT centre for all-year use.

Facilities & Personnel Needed for NECO CBE Registration 2025

  • Backup power supply (generator minimum 40KVA for 250 systems).
  • At least 2 technical staff and 1 network engineer must be on site.
  • Personnel must be trustworthy and of high integrity.
  • Adequate holding/waiting room with chairs.
  • Centre must be properly fenced and secured.
