The University of Nottingham, in partnership with the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre, is pleased to offer a fully funded PhD studentship. This scholarship is designed to address key challenges in on-platform manufacturing engineering.

Detailed Scholarship Information

The Rolls-Royce Scholarship focuses on the micromechanics and in-depth materials analysis of advanced aerospace materials in the manufacturing process. The project will use a wide range of sophisticated techniques, including scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD).

The project will also involve manufacturing trials, workpiece surface quality analysis, and an in-depth investigation from macromechanics to micromechanics. Rolls-Royce specialists will provide support and guidance throughout the project.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the Rolls-Royce Scholarship, you must:

Have a first or upper-second class degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, materials science, or physics.
Graduates finishing their degrees in July 2025 are also encouraged to apply.
Note: Due to the nature of the funding, only UK applicants can be considered for this position.
