Key Responsibilities

The Programme Management Officer will be responsible for:

  • Leading the implementation of a project on strengthening regional cooperation to reduce disaster impacts in West Africa.
  • Coordinating UNDRR’s work on early warning and action in West African countries.
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating assigned projects.
  • Organizing and preparing written outputs like background papers, reports, and studies.
  • Conducting training workshops and making presentations on relevant topics.
  • Supervising and providing guidance to junior staff members.

Required Qualifications

To be considered for this UN Programme Officer Job in Abuja 2025, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: An advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in disaster management, climate science, or a related field. A first-level university degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted.
  • Work Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in project or programme management in disaster risk management and early warning. Experience in Africa is required.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and French is required for this position.
